We’re delighted that Lambeth Council has approved plans for the restoration and modernisation of the historic London Fire Brigade headquarters at 8 Albert Embankment, paving the way for the Brigade’s return to its historic home. The approved scheme will deliver a refurbished fire station, modern headquarters, improved training facilities and new community spaces for local residents.

This project demonstrates the value of ongoing engagement with neighbours. Working hand in hand with the team at London Fire Brigade, we helped deliver an extensive programme of resident and stakeholder engagement, taking learnings from earlier applications on the site, building long-term relationships that continued well beyond the planning application stage.

Key milestones included:

Engagement with hundreds of local residents through consultations, door-knocking and community update sessions

Cross-party councillor engagement, spanning two political administrations

An ongoing programme of community events to keep local people informed about the future of the wider estate

This is a significant milestone for London Fire Brigade and a great example of how thoughtful engagement can help deliver positive outcomes for communities, public services and heritage assets alike.

Well done to the Kanda team of Isabelle Price, Daisy Kendrick and Natasha Richards-Naseem.
