Mark has over three decades experience as a senior local politician and campaigner. He was Leader of the London Borough of Merton, responsible for the council’s strategic direction during the pandemic and its aftermath. He also held key positions including Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, where he ran a budget of £500m a year, and Chair of the council’s housing company. He was the public face of the council on TV, radio and other communications, and has also stood as a Parliamentary Candidate.
Mark’s professional expertise is in public affairs and communications, and he has advised organisations in the private and public sectors, including several MPs. Most recently, he has focused on property and regeneration, where he brings a rare insight into the thinking of political decision-makers along with a passion for engaging with communities and campaigning effectively for more housing and jobs. Outside work, he has helped set up a foodbank and has been appointed Trustee of a national charity offering money and debt advice.
