On Tuesday, some of London’s most important politicians descended into one of the largest and deepest construction sites in the Capital. Howard Dawber, Deputy Mayor of London, and Tom Sleigh, Chair of the City of London Corporation’s Planning and Transportation Committee, joined our client AXA IM Alts alongside YardNine for a site tour and a ceremony to celebrate the ‘bottoming out’ of 50 Fenchurch Street.
This marked not only the end of nearly 20 metres of excavation, but it also recognised a remarkable engineering feat, with the 700-year-old Grade I-listed All Hallows Staining Church tower being held 45 feet above the ground on stilts. This will allow for the new 36-storey, ultra-low carbon office building to rise beneath it – a powerful metaphor for London and the City which so carefully embraces its rich history as part of its growth and development.
We were proud to play a central role in bringing this event together, with securing senior figures like Howard Dawber and Tom Sleigh and not only delivering an incredible photo opportunity, but strategically positioning 50 Fenchurch as a beacon of growth for both London and the UK. And there has been some great media coverage following the event, with The Times, The Standard, The Daily Mail and many more running positive articles covering the ceremony.
For our clients, we focus on more than just milestone-led support. We build profile with influential decision-makers, ensuring our clients’ projects are seen as part of the bigger story of London’s growth. The involvement of senior London and City leaders demonstrates strong institutional support for 50 Fenchurch, and reinforces its role as a symbol of resilience and ambition at a time when the industry needs both.
