Kanda Consulting is looking for an entry level graphic designer to join its team, based in the city.

Job Description

As a Junior Graphic Designer, your primary role is designing print, social media and digital outputs.

The position requires the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment. The candidate will be able to work in in a fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere and must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Objective of this role:

  • Think creatively, producing and developing both print, digital and interactive designs.
  • Work on a wide range of projects, using various techniques to visualise and develop innovative graphic designs that meet the brief and client expectations.
  • Work independently and cooperatively on multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and remaining within the budget constraints.
  • Create solutions to improve design capabilities.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • As part of the Studio team you will communicate daily with the Senior Graphic Designer & Creative Lead to manage your workload using Teamwork. The team meet twice weekly to schedule, forecast and review all team assignments.
  • You will use Teamwork to record the time you spend on design outputs and amends.
  • Design illustrations, infographics, iconography, mapping, site plans and other innovative presentation graphics.
  • Liaise with the project teams to ensure content suits the design and any amends needed are actioned in a timely fashion.
  • Develop innovative methods of visual storytelling for all collateral materials.
  • Design and create mock-ups and prototypes for multiple client websites using InDesign and Figma.
  • Manage any project and/or task that is assigned to you via Teamwork. Ensuring all deadlines are met and progress reports/status are up-to-date and communicated.
  • Manage comms with project teams, once you are assigned to that project, regularly keeping them informed and updated.
  • You will ensure all Studio files you are working on are saved in the project folders correctly. Maintaining a consistent and tidy filing system.

Qualifications and essential skills:

  • Qualification in graphic design or related discipline
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Excellent communication skills; liaising with project team to understand their requirements as well as the Studio team in understanding workload.
  • Excellent time management skills – working to the allotted timeframe and communicating extensions ahead of time.
  • Competent in preparing drafts of material based on agreed brief and proofreading work before sending it back for review.
  • Ability to bring your concepts to life across a wide range of projects such as branding, websites, digital, social and marketing comms.
  • A keen interest in and excellent understating of branding, including brand design, creating and extending guidelines and brand identity systems and ability to work to a range of established brand guidelines (for different clients)
  • Excellent knowledge of current trends in design, typography and graphic fundamentals for both digital and print
  • Demonstrate well-developed artistic sensibilities and be able to interpret and address notes.

Desired skills:

  • Experience in Figma
  • Experience with animation and/or video editing software.
  • Fluency in website design, production and coding/HTML
  • Ability to work to a range of established brand guidelines (for different clients) and ability to develop own style
  • Interest in architecture and urban design

Stage 1 – Successful candidates will be selected for a 30 min virtual interview with Studio Manager and Head of People & Culture.

Stage 2 – Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a F2F interview, you may bring a portfolio of your work.  You will be asked to complete a creative task within a set timeframe. 

Remuneration package:

Starting salary £25,642 in line with the London Living Wage (depending on experience)

This is a full-time, permanent role, 37.5 hours per week. Subject to a three-month probationary period.
