About the role

We’re a lean, agile and important team within the business that is focused on supporting our clients’ corporate communications and public affairs requirements. As one of the sectors largest independent communications agencies for the built environment, we support clients across the space, helping to manage their reputations, raise their profiles and communicate with a range of stakeholders, including those at both a local and central Government level.

We’re looking for a passionate, experienced and organised public affairs manager to support our team, someone who can help to lead and shape client programmes and navigate policy developments as they happen.

We work with a range of clients across the built environment, from public sector local authorities who need help communicating their property and housing ambitions through to large, listed companies acquiring assets and progressing development proposals.

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Monitor policy developments in the built environment and analyze their potential impact on the sector
  • Be a policy expert on key issues impacting clients in the built environment, offering relevant advice to clients together with other senior team members
  • Identify opportunities for clients and Kanda at policy focused events and
  • Develop policy focused thought leadership programmes on behalf of clients
  • Draft, design and proofread advocacy materials (positioning papers, briefings, presentations, etc.). 
  • Undertaking stakeholder mapping and relationship building engagement programmes
  • Contribute to the development of advocacy strategies and lead this execution
  • Together with our Director of Political Insights, develop a robust and clear thought leadership position for the agency around political insights and expertise
  • Support our new business strategy and targeting, undertaking research on specific businesses and contributing to proposals

Key Attributes and Skills:

  • 3+ years in public affairs / agency environment
  • Honed relationships at public sector level
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic – unafraid to voice opinions and progress ideas
  • Works collaboratively; good team player
  • Organised and delivers a high quality of work with strong attention to detail
  • Robust copywriting skills
  • A passion for the built environment and the policy landscape influencing decision making at both a local and central government level
  • Strong ability to assimilate, analyse and summarise written material quickly
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
  • Excellent Time Management
